Playing World of Warcraft - Choose Between the Alliance and the Horde!

Before you start playing, you're going to need to make one very important decision: Will you fight on the side of the Alliance? Or will you do battle under the Horde banner?

For most beginners, it might seem that there isn't much difference - and that is true, to a degree. Practically speaking, the only difference that your faction makes would be the races that are available to you, i.e. the Alliance have Night Elves, Draenei, Humans, Gnomes, and Dwarves whereas the Horde have Undead, Tauren, Orcs, Trolls, and Blood Elves.

Both sides have the same types of classes available to them, so you needn't worry about that at all!

Players more familiar with the Warcraft world will know that there are other story-based differences between the two factions. Originally, the Horde were the 'bad' guys, seeing as they invaded the world and started the wars. However nowadays the Horde are just any other faction, and are neither good nor evil.

Similarly, although the Alliance used to be the traditional 'good' guys, it too is not really stereotyped into that role anymore, and some parts of the Alliance have adopted a decidedly sinister approach on the whole.

Still, if you're interested in the lore aspects of the game, it is interesting to play as both factions

(though you'll have to do so on different servers), just to get a feel of what each faction is going through, and the problems that they face.

One of the only real considerations that you'll have to make when choosing between the Alliance and the Horde is this: Are any of your friends currently playing on any faction?

If you have friends already playing on one faction, and you want to join up with them, then you'll have to select a race from that faction too. Inter-faction grouping and communication is not allowed, and so if you and your friends are on different factions you won't be able to group up and go on adventures as you may desire.

Of course, it could be that you would want to purposely be on the opposite faction from your friends just so that you can engage them in battle!

On a serious note though - now that you know the differences between the factions (which are barely there), you'll see that it is a call that is entirely yours, and so if you want to you could just pick a race and not really even care which faction it is from.

Remember though - you are going to owe your faction your allegiance, so don't take this decision too lightly!

There is an old saying, "Never mix business with pleasure." This is more true than you can possibly imagine. A recent story that I heard from a fellow marketer has convinced me of this more than ever. I'm going to tell you that story and then leave you with a few tips on how to conduct your business in regard to the people you do business with. You might want to take this advice to heart.

I won't mention any names because I don't want to embarrass anybody, but a fellow marketer had written his list telling them that if they were interested in playing an online game of scrabble that he was more than up to it. Well, a few people took him up on his offer. The problems started when he beat this one subscriber at the game. Well, the subscriber proceeded to write the marketer a rather angry email calling him a cheater and a lot of other not so nice names. At this point in time, the subscriber then became an ex subscriber.

Now, I know what you're probably thinking. If this person is so unglued to get upset over an online game of scrabble, then they weren't worth having as a subscriber anyway. Well, that may not be true. See, in the normal course of dealing with this person, on a business level only, it is quite possible that nothing would have been done to set them off. After all, if all you're doing is sending emails with relevant content that helps the person with their business, occasionally sending a sales pitch, there is a very good chance that this person will remain a subscriber and even become a paying customer.

But the reasons for not mixing business and pleasure have less to do with ticking people off and more to do with keeping a professional distance from your subscribers. Once you start becoming "friends" with these people, the relationship changes. They begin to see you more on their level and the level of respect drops. In addition to that, they begin to expect special treatment because they ARE friends. Then, when they don't get it, they become resentful. After all, they were good enough to play games with but not good enough to give a discount on your latest product?

It's a very dangerous line we cross when we mix business with pleasure. So here is my advice. Don't do it. Keep your emails professional at all times. Do not inject personal information into them unless the info directly relates to how you make money or whatever it is your niche is about. Do not give out personal phone numbers or addresses unless it is a business phone and business address. You don't want people calling your home and having your wife and kid answering. This is just not professional.

If you keep that line drawn in the sand, you won't have to worry about people sending you emails calling you a cheater and a whole lot of other ugly names.

Obviously knowing how to set up a chess board is imperative if you want to play chess. Good news is, it's pretty easy to remember once you do it a few times. The first thing you should know is that the chess board is comprised of both eight rows and eight columns, which ends up making 64 total squares. As you can see, the squares are alternating colors between light and dark.

While setting up the board, you should make sure that a light (or white) square is at the very bottom on the extreme lower right hand side for both players on either side. You can probably tell that this works for both players once you have the board the right way.

When you're setting the pieces, start with the corners. A rook goes on each of the four corners. Knights are placed to the rooks, then the bishops next to them. Queens are always placed on the square of the same color (which means the white or light queen would end up on the white or light colored square (depending on what your board looks like), and the dark one would go on the dark square.

Kings go next to queens, and then pawns go in front of all of the other pieces.

All of these rules are essential. Once you get them down, you can enjoy your game of choice.

Just so you know a little bit more about each piece and how they move, too:

Rook - This can move forward, backward, left, and right - as many spaces as necessary - as long as it doesn't jump another piece.

The iPad truly is a beautiful devious. On look at it and you will feel that we have jumped forward twenty years into the future. The iPad's exteriors is a combination of aluminum and reinforced plastic. I do not get any eye strain from using the iPad even after spending an hour reading an ebook. However, if you plan on making the iPad your next ebook reader, I would advise you to go test out an iPad at the Apple store first.

Media consumption was supposed to be the one thing that the iPad excelled at, and it does.

iBooks: iBooks is Apple's ereader that can be downloaded free on the iPad. It comes with a free sample of Winnie the Pooh. iBooks gives the readers a lot of options such as changing the text size or the brightness of the screen. iBooks does not have a huge selections of books yet, but it offers books in full color and the touch screen ui makes it fun to read.

Magazines: So far the magazines that have been released on the iPad have enjoyed huge success. Big names such as Time Magazine, GQ, and Wired have all made dictated apps for the iPad where you can download the latest edition. The magazine companies are really excited about the opportunities the iPad brings and are still experimenting with how they should deliver their content to their subscribers. The eMagazines still have a way to go with things such as ui and pricing, but you can expect them to get better with time.

Newspapers: The iPad is an ideal product for reading the latest news in the morning at the breakfast table or on a train on your way to work. USA Today, BBC, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, and many more have already made their content assessable on the iPad.

The iPad is an excellent device for looking at video's. There are many options of where you can get videos from. Off course you have iTunes which has a huge selection of videos that you can buy and upload to your iPad. With a paid subscription you can also access Netflix on your iPad and stream movies and shows. For you quick videos you can always head over to YouTube and watch movie trails or a funny clip.

Music

The way you access the music is a little different from the iPhone, but it is still simple and easy. Apple has simple merged its ipod functions into iPad. One of the strong points of the iPad is that you can create your playlist directly on the iPad without having to use iTunes.

Keyboard

The iPad keyboard is much bigger than the iPhone or ipod Touch virtual keyboards, and the extra room makes it a breeze to type on. Don't expect to be able to bang out a 10 page paper (although I've heard that it has been done) but for quick typing the iPad will get the job done.

Gaming

The gaming on the iPad is not for extreme gamers, but more so for the casual one. In fact, I've heard of dozens of people who haven't played games in years finding a couple that they really enjoy on the iPad. The iPad offers all of the classic board games such as chess and scrabble and you can even play multiplayer. Then there are games that were designed specifically for the iPad. These games are clever, challenging, addictive, and loads of fun. And did I mention cheap? Most games are free and none get more expensive then about $5.00.

The Plague Eruptor is a type of walking corpse that works to spread devastation in the areas in which they visit. These terrifying characters are all part of the dreaded Scourge army that is working to destroy anything and everything in their path. While this type of character is incredibly violent, super fast, and has an unbelievable amount of strength, these characteristics are far from the most frightening ability that they have. These monstrous characters have nodules that contain the plague. When the nodules burst, it rapidly spreads the ominous sickness.

Shovel Tusks

The Shovel Tusks resemble what we know as the common moose, the only difference is that the antlers that they have on top of their head is curved back and they have tusks that they use to dig for food, and even protect themselves. These beasts have been said to be extremely territorial over their space, and will stop at absolutely nothing to protect their area from invaders.

Five Carebear Tips For Surviving PvP in EVE Online

EVE Online, more so than almost any other MMORPG available today, focuses on Player-vs-Player combat. It does so across the server, largely without setting up cordoned off "safe" areas where players don't need to worry about getting attacked by other players. What this means is every player, to survive and thrive in New Eden, must be at least minimally familiar with how PvP works and some tips to succeed at it.

For the Carebears out there, whose primary interest is non-PvP (mining, missioning, trading, etc), here are five quick tips on how to avoid, or if need be, survive when unwanted PvP combat finds you:

Tip 1: Know Your Ship Fittings

Spent time on Battleclinic and the Ship Fittings forums on EVE Online, and get to know your ship's capabilities and recommended fittings. Don't let ignorance and horrible fittings make you a victim. Also be willing to sacrifice of bit of capability - cargo room, mission fittings, etc. - in order to fit a couple PvP-related modules or drones just in case, especially if you are venturing into low or null sec space. For example, if you are flying a tricked out faction-fit mission battleship, consider dropping a few Warrior II light drones in to scare off any tackling interceptors or frigates. Or consider a large NOS or Neutralizer for the same purpose. A slight drop in mission-specific capabilities could save your ship and expensive fittings.

Tip 2: Don't Make Yourself a Target

Even in high security (0.5 - 1.0) space, you are a target, especially if you make yourself look like a juicy and lucrative one. Some basic pitfalls that have claimed many an innocent hull:

o    Mission runners, don't trick your ship out with faction gear - that Navy Raven, Caldari Navy missile launchers, and X-type Booster may look great and help you run missions faster, but they make you shine like a beacon to suicide gankers in any system.

o    Miners - If you fly a Hulk in high sec, pirates will assume you have a faction booster. Be aware of your surroundings, never mine AFK, and stay aligned for a station or gate to get out in a hurry. In short, treat high-sec like a slightly more boring 0.0.

o    Haulers - You will get scanned down, and if you are carrying a mint, you will get suicide ganked even in high sec space. Freighters should keep their loads under 1 Billion ISK, and generally try and avoid the major routes in and out of Jita.

Tip 3: Love Safe Spots

Do yourself a favor, and every time you enter a new system, even if just passing through gate to gate, start dropping bookmarks while in warp. These "in line" safe spots aren't ideal - they are easy to scan down - but they are handy in a pinch and vastly preferable to having no where to warp to in an emergency. If you have time, warp from one of those safe spots to a planet, and drop a couple more bookmarks along the way to create even "safer" places to run to. If you are being hunted down, never linger at a safe spot for more than a few seconds. Warp in, and immediately start aligning for your next safe. Never stop until the bad guys have left the system (even then, beware of probing alts!).

Tip 4: Pay Attention to Local

Outside of wormhole space, local is your best indication of when trouble is near. It will tell you if war targets have jumped in system, or if a group of pirates on the prowl just wandered by. Always keep it in its own window, never minimized, and in a highly visible spot on your screen.

Tip 5: Don't Blindly Follow the Map

One of the fastest ways to get inadvertently ganked is to accidentally fly on autopilot through a lowsec system in a hauler. Pay close attention to your autopilot settings, and don't get lazy with the "Shortest Route" options. Also ensure you don't auto accept invitations - if you fly AFK often, set it up to auto-reject so you don't end up in someone's gang by mistake.

A Brief History of the Board Game - Scrabble

Scrabble is a traditional word based board game. It has been about for decades as it was created in 1938. Not many people know but it is actually a variation on an older word game called Lexico. It was created by architect Alfred Mosher Butts. Do develop the game Butts had to meticulously perform frequency analysis on each letter of the alphabet in order to determine the scoring system!

The game really took off when in 1948 James Brunot from Newtown, Connecticut bought the manufacturing rights to the game by offering Butts a royalty on every game sold. At this point the rules were slightly simplified. The game was also called "Scrabble" meaning to "search frequently" for the first time.

Originally the game lost money, being manufactured in a former school house by Brunots family. It was only in 1952 when Jack Strauss, president of Macy's played the game while on holiday. When he returned he realised that his store did not sell the game and immediately placed a large order.

At this point Brunot was unable to meet the demand himself so he sold the rights to Selchow and Righter who had previously rejected the game! They however went bankrupt in 1986 and there assess were bought by Hasbro. Scrabble is now owned by Mattel. It was also turned into a popular daytime quiz show by TV network NBC and the show ran from July 1984 to March 1990. It was hosted by Chuck Woolery, the show continued for a few years before unfortunately it was discontinued!
